Devotion

Friends, I'm back with the random shopping links and Project Runway blogs. Beware!

Last night was the season premier of cycle 5 of Project Runway. Mmmmm. Don't try to contact me on Wednesday nights between 9 and 10, because chances are, I won't be available.

I haven't decided who I'm rooting for yet. It's a little soon to tell. I was surprised the garbage bag dress didn't go home last night. I felt it was less innovative, though also less frightening, than the shower curtain rain coat. And generally the judges prefer something a little more outrageous over pure blaaaaah.

It was good to see Austin back from season 1 as a guest judge though. I have such a crush on his lisp. Adorable!

So my latest shopping obsession: Lush. I have been lusting after the Buffy Body Butter and the Honey Waffle Soap. I've decided I'm allowed to buy neither of these until I finish my online Book of Mormon class (which I've been dreading but severely need to get out of the way if I'm going to go back to BYU in the winter). I tried the Buffy at the Lush store at Bellesquare and it's wonderful! Got bumpy skin? This'll take care of it straightaway. And it moisturizes AS it exfoliates. Incroyable! And most of their products are vegan. Yay!

Oh and new favorite thing from Sephora: Givenchy Phenomen'eyes Mascara. I really want to try this. The applicator looks perfect for those hard to reach inner lashes.

Seattle/Tacoma salon goers: anyone know a good place for eyebrow threading? I can't wax until I'm off Accutane, but apparently eyebrow threading is allowed. These caterpillars are getting a little out of control, so if you know of anywhere nearby that isn't completely sketch, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Lastly, Beach House. Why didn't I know about this before? Where have I been? Sigh, sometimes I'm so behind. Anyway, thoroughly enjoying both albums.

Major, fierce, chic, and everything in between

The Project Runway season finale was AMAZING! Aaaaagh! I'm still not over it. I loved everyone's collections!

Alright, so the winner was of course Christian (yessss) and he absolutely deserved it. As soon as I realized Victoria Beckham was going to be the guest judge, I knew he had it in the bag. He is 100% her style. She is fabulous, and I mean just look at the chicness of his clothes- it's a perfect match!

As for Jillian, I basically wanted to wear every single one of her designs. During her show it was obvious she wasn't going to win - there was no fluidity of story in her collection - but still, she has got some serious talent in the area of wearability with style. And the knits... oh good heavens the knits. Loooooove!

And then there is Rami, who, much as I detested him during the show (I didn't think he or his draping deserved to be in the ranks of better designers), had pieces in his collection that I could not get over. Some of them were stunning! And I seriously want that pink skirt. It is adorable!

Aaah, best season yet. I love the hats, the shoes, the knits, the weaving. It was fantastic.

Oh! And for all you shopaholics out there! You NEED to check out Shopbop.com. Think Urban Outfitters on steroids. They have everything you could ever need to satisfy your designer hunger. And it ranges from being hugely expensive to actually quite affordable for what they're selling. Their jeans are in the ranks of Nordstrom rather than Henri Bendel. Can't argue with that! So shop to it!

Ok, onto other things, hah! I've decided that after I graduate, I want one of these:

Yeah, a Toyota Prius. By the time I'm out of college, they should be in the 50 or 60 mpg range. And they're surprisingly inexpensive for a hybrid. They come in a lovely charcoal color, which is what I want any car of mine to be (other than my periwinkle Jeep of course!). So that is my goal. Because chances are two years from now my Jeep will be on the uh... not so great side... Let's put it this way: I'll probably get a trade in value of maybe $200.

So anyway, I'm feeling better today, which is really weird. I think I had just a touch of the flu maybe? Perhaps a milder version of the stomach flu? I have no idea. I had a fever again last night but took some Tylenol and felt much better after. I woke up this morning as good as ever.

Which is good because tonight my dad and stepmom are taking my brother and I out to Teatro ZinZanni in Seattle for a birthday dinner. Tix are not cheap, so I'm glad I'll be well enough to go. I think it will be fun.

Well anyway, I'd better get back to work. Fashion lover out!

Tender to the touch

What illness gives you a 101 degree fever, dizziness, nausea (without any throwing up) and a slight headache? Because whatever that illness is, I have it. My skin and joints were sooo achy today it hurt to even have my clothes rubbing on my back and arms, and I was freezing when I would normally be ok or even warm. So I came home from work early, took my temp, and there it was: 100.9 degrees. Ick.

In brighter news, the Project Runway season finale is tonight. I'm hoping I won't be passed out by the time it comes on because I'd really like to see what everyone's bringing to the table. (Go Christian!)

Plus and minus

Through the entirety of Project Runway Season 4, I have hated on Rami time and time again. But even I have to admit, I'm glad he made it to Bryant Park instead of Chris. Using human hair for clothing - while I admit it looked chic - is just... gross...

I'm a little nervous for my boy Christian, but I'm really excited to see what he and Jillian will be pulling out on the runway.

And I have a major girl crush on Heidi Klum. Seriously.

On the topic of me (that's what you're all here for right?), depression = two thumbs down. And rain to top it off is just miserable. I promise I'll get less whiny as time goes on. It feels like an eternity since Saturday and yet it's only been 4 days. I said Monday or Tuesday that I just have to take it one day at a time, and my mom responded, "And probably even an hour at a time more often." So true. Well, there's an hour left of today and I think I'll try to sleep through it and a few of tomorrow's hours as well.

I am thankful for sleep, for the increasing hours of daylight in the day and that our elliptical machine is set up so I can run on it while watching the fabulosity that is Project Runway.

With that, goodnight.

The final countdown

I am the world's worst packer. It's almost 10 and I'm barely finishing my laundry now. Yahoooo!

So Brandie, who I work with, is also flying to California tomorrow, but she is leaving on a cruise to Mexico. She will also be gone for 10 days. So basically we are taking the exact same days off. And ironically, we were the two closing the shop tonight. Every 5 minutes one of us would yell out either "what?? It's only -:--?? This afternoon will never end!" or else "Hey, guess what!? We're leaving tomorrow!" The 3 to 6 o'clock stretch was basically an eternity.

But! It is finally almost here! In 13 hours I will be in the car with Brandon off to whatever he decides to show me first. I can't wait!

Anyway, I'd better be off to finish packing.

I probably won't have time/access to post anything while I'm gone. But if I get a chance, I'll send a quickie of an update.

Have an excellent 10 days my friends!

Listen to good music, read good books, see good movies.

Oh, and P.S. Project Runway update - Christian and Jillian both made it to the final three. Thank heavens. I cannot wait to see what they come up with. This might be the best PR season finale yet!

Central Coast Cali, here I come! (Please don't rain on me) countdown: 12.5 hours. Yessssssss

Professor Layton and the never ending trial of my patience

Sorry about the cussing, but ahahaha, I can't stop laughing over this comic! Because even though I'm enjoying playing this game, this is sooo truuuue. Hahaha

It has been a wonderful Valentine's Day thus far. Brandon is clever and wonderful. Every couple of hours I get an email with a message and a photo attached. The photo is of random areas or things around his house, and hidden within the photo is a heart. My job is to find the heart. This was the hardest one so far. You'll have to make it bigger to find it.

Today is my one day of the year to enjoy really terrible yet some how delicious store brand sugar cookies covered in sprinkles. Every year I look forward to these. I generally only eat them on either Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day. Once in a while I'll buy the flag ones on the 4th of July. They're crunchy and sweet and turn my fingers pink. Yum yum.

I'm going to start my packing tonight between watching the latest Tivo'd episode of Project Runway and solving riddles with the help of Professor Layton, Luke and their horrid British accents. Good times!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Lost in that good feeling

Well my vote for top 3 in Project Runway is obviously out. I'm just glad Christian and Jillian are still in. And Christian's outfit this week was fierce! He totally should have won! The fact that Ricky is still on is a joke. I mean his clothes up till now have just been so blaaaah.

I listened to Sarah Blasko in the car today. It's been ages since I listened to her. It brought back great memories of Australia. Her voice is so delicate, which matches her features. Seeing her in Brisbane was a definite highlight. So lovely.

I'm sitting here staring at the screen trying to think of something interesting to write, but honestly, I don't have much. I'm happy. Things are good and they're getting better. That's a bit boring, but I'm ok with boring.

One small thing of note: someone I trust said to me today "the opposite of love is indifference." I thought that was interesting and true.

I've been wondering how my cousin Carolyn is doing in the MTC. Maybe I'll track down her address and send her a letter.

Crafty little things

I've been on a bit of a Project Runway binge the past couple days. I go through phases with this show. I'll forget it's started, and suddenly catch a rerun marathon and not be able to stop watching. I'm rooting for Christian. I love his overly-sculpted hair and think he's got the most vision. I'm hoping it comes down to Christian, Jillian and Victorya.

For some reason I've had a thing for Peter Bjorn and John this week. They're wonderfully dancy! I don't think Brandon quite understands my love of poppy music yet. I try to explain it to him, but it's going to take a while to catch on I think. I pretend to be a music snob, but honestly, if it's bright and happy, I'll probably love it! And I mean lyrics don't get much better than "She's stepping on my shoes, and I couldn't want it more. That way I always know she's close." Adorable.

Sooo, when I started this blog, I didn't think anyone was going to read it. I mean that. I put up links to it on my Facebook and Myspace, but honestly, I didn't think anyone paid attention to my profiles on either of those sites. But hey! I'm glad to have you all here! Most of my ramblings are just that: ramblings. So pay no mind if I got off on some crazy random tangent. It's bound to happen. And has. That and I'm going to try to keep writing as if no one will be reading it. It keeps me more honest.

Now then, back to business. I want to make a list of things I'd like to do in the near future. So here they are:

1) Put all Australia pics into tangible photo album with written out stories and everything
2) Learn to crochet and (2b) crochet an afghan
3) Knit something cute and more delicate than the chunky scarves I've made in the past
4) Organize my apartment (my room specifically)

I think I'll go from there. I've been skimming some knitting blogs lately and I just really love the things some of these people make. They're delicate, crafty, original. Basically, I'm inspired. That and Project Runway seriously brings out the craft in me.

I'll try to take pictures of my endeavors. And I think I'll start on that organizing project now as a matter of fact.

So, until tomorrow, adieu!
